on a house in the oakland hills. it happened around 3:30 this morning on oakwood drive, the tree estimated to be 75 foot tall crashed down on the corner of the roof. the downed tree also brought traffic on oakwood drive to a stop. firefighters say they do not know what caused that tree to fall. >>> an investigation is underway into a crash involving a scooter and a santa clara county sheriffs patrol car. the accident happened before 12:30 this morning in the area of west heading street and the alameda. investigators are trying to determine if one of the drivers may have run a red light. two people on the it scooter were taken to the hospital but their injuries are not believed to be serious. the deputy in the patrol car was not hurt. the vehicle sustained damage to the right front bumper. a couple of san francisco police cars will be out of action after an unusual crash. officers were investigating an argument on the 4000 block of mission street. police say pickup truck sideswiped a patrol car, sending it into a second police car. witnesses say officers had to scramble to avoid getting hit
oakland police are turning to the public for help. authorities are working on tracking down the suspect who shot and killed a san francisco man early this morning. kron 4's scott rates walks us through what happened. >> reporter: this call was about one block ago. at the oakland police department at this intersection at clay /ninth and ninth street. around 3:00 a.m.. shots were fired and this man was shot multiple times walking on this intersection. investigators believe that it was an occupant inside another car that shot at the driver of the other car. he was taken to the hospital where he died. hwe know that he is a 37 year-old man. we checked with the oakland police department and we are hoping for some type of witness that can come forward. we are offering a $10,002 reward. scott rates, kron 4. >> a big pay off for voters in san jose. tomorrow, the city's minimum wage will go up two dollars.that goes for both part-time and full-time employees. it also includes those working for tips. kron four's philippe djegal shows us how it all adds up. >> reporter: so, this is how it works. and

workers femmehappening right now. a 'first friday' event in oakland. venomlast month, a shooting broke out after the 'first friday' event ended. and one man was killed. been made. and the event iskron 4's j.r. stone joins us if live from oakland. officers with the santa cruz police department were back on duty today. following the murder of two of their own. on tuesday, detective sgt. loran "butch" baker and detective elizabeth butler were gunned down by jeremy goulet. the officers were investigating a misdemeanor branci-forte avenue. when the suspect opened fire, killing the two officers. goulet had a long history of sex- related assaults and arrests. goulet was later shot and killed by other officers. a memorial for the two police detectives will be held next thursday in santa cruz. meanwhile. the santa cruz sheriff's department is now goulet's potential acquaintences. this woman. terisa johnson. may have been with goulet earlier this year. authorities say, johnson is *not involved with the murders in any way. investigators want to speak to her. to get more information about goulet's jo
oakland and south san francisco has not been living up to expectations. the 42-million dollar service was launched nine months ago and operates seven trips each weekday. however, officials say ridership is less than a third of what they were hoping for during the ferries' first year on the bay. now, in an effort to boost ridership, the ferry operator wants to spend another 230-thousand dollars to add more trips. it would include a third afternoon trip to the east bay and two midday trips a week between south san francisco and pier 41. a beautiful view from the south bay the tail lights are northbound, so far, so good. your commute into your weather coming up. continues after a deadly shooting and 10 hour standoff in oakland. the standoff started just after one this morning when police went to inspect a residence after two gunshot victims were hospitalized. police traced a potential suspect to a home on 25th avenue. the scene was cleared at about 11:30 a.m., according to police and they detained several people for questioning but at this time it is not clear if the shooting suspect is in custody. one of the shooting victims died, the other victim is in serious condition tonight. four people hurt in vallejo today when a pick up truck drove through a thrift store. one of those injured included the driver. the seriousness of the injured to the driver and other customers are not know. the cause of the crash is also investigation. a d-u-i and license checkpoint in santa rosa leads to multiple arrests. santa rosa police arrested five for driving under the influence. 17 were cited for driving without a license and four others for driving with a suspended license. plus - the verdict is in for two football players accused of raping a 16 year old and
